Zombieland is different from most movies in the genre. It has a great sense of humor to it and is one of the best comedies and movies of the year. It is a fun romp through a hell on Earth from start to finish. Zombieland is the latest movie in the recent zombie revival to hit the big screen.

After the second best opening credit sequence of the year (Watchmen being the best), we are introduced to Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg). He's a college kid from Texas who survived the apocalypse because he had no life and no friends. He was already used to living alone and spending nights locked up. Columbus has a set of rules that also helped him avoid becoming a zombie's Happy Meal. Rule number one being keep up the cardio as hilariously shown during a chase around an abandoned gas stationColumbus then meets up with Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), a cowboy with a craving for Twinkies and zombie killing. Tallahassee allows Columbus to tag along with him and soon they're on their way across the country. Tallahassee telling Columbus no names and that this will probably be a short partnership.

The two are a zombie killing "Odd Couple". Columbus is a worrier and a virgin. Tallahassee is fearless and takes much delight in dispatching the undead in some very imaginative ways. After a Twinkie run at a supermarket, the two meet and are soon conned by a pair of sisters, Wichita (Emma Stone) and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin). The sisters are on their way to an abandoned California amusement park that's the last zombie free place in America. After a few missteps, the four decide to team up to better their chances of survival. And, off they go with a few stops on the way to Pacific Playland and one of the most memorable and funniest cameos in recent memory. The movie does not let up with the jokes and zombies.

I loved this movie. It is one of the funniest horror movies I've seen in a long time. And, I mean intentionally funny. The movie definitely has a Shaun Of The Dead vibe. I thought of it as an American version of that. With the American cowboy attitude and humor to match. It starts off funny and ends funny. The only other movie that was this much fun this year was The Hangover. It's not scary, but definitely gory. With some of the coolest zombie deaths ever. Harrelson steals the movie as Tallahassee.

Highly recommended and I can't wait for my next trip back to Zombieland. It's a zombie lovers dream movie.
