Al Pacino is an actors actor. To every part he brings that special something to make his role an instant classic. From a softly spoken line to the occasional hoo wah he gets the job done. Sometime it makes me wonder if he can make a bad movie. The Devil's Advocate had the makings of a potential disaster. Keanu Reeves crappy southern accent is enough to bring the ship down. However thanks to the genius of an Al Pacino that does not happen. Enough of my acting man crush lets talk about the movie.

The Devil's Advocate is a film about a young lawyer named Kevin Lomax. While working in Florida he has an impeccable case record, and gains the attention of John Milton's high powered New York Firm. He is then brought up to New York with his incredibly hot wife played by Charlize Thereon to be wowed. For after all how can you return to the farm when you've seen the big city. He is wined and dined and given a position and a large case load that keeps him so busy he can't see his wife is going crazy.....Or is she??? duh duh duhhhhhhhh

This film is essentially about vanity. The bad it can do, and how big of a sin it is. (Spoiler Alert: However this film came out in 97' and the commercials ruined it so there) Of course when your boss is actually Satan it's a little worse.

I won't ruin the surprise ending, everyone should see this movie at least once. All I can say is nobody has ever had more fun being Satan. Pacino trades in the horns and pitchfork, and throws on some very nice Italian suits. He poses the eternal question of who really is the bad guy? Is it Satan who is like the cool camp counselor who lets you stay up past lights out? Or is the mean one who won't let you go swimming till you've taken a swim test, eventhough you have a pool at home. Pacino's monologue puts it better than that. He was so good it actually led me to think Pacino just might actually be Satan. that would be weird HOO WAH welcome to Hell.

So all in all this movie is good. Pacino however is great. There's an amazing supporting cast as well. People who I imagine would give their left arm to work with Al. I give this movie 3 pitchforks. I would have given it 4 but I just couldn't get passed Keanu's accent. I mean really it's called a dialect coach people.
